You are One! - On Your First Birthday

Thousands of feet above the calm Indian Ocean,
As the moonlight brightens the woolly clouds on the horizon,
That has studded on the blue skies the twinkling seven stars,
Compare they well with your glittering dove eyes.

In the wind-combed lush green carpets of the savannas,
By the feet of the snow clad crater of the Mount Kilimanjaro,
That has playful herd of the black and white stripped zebras,
Compare they well with your brisk crawls among the toys.

Shoals of fish tickled blue fresh waters of river Zambezi,
Scantily covered bushes of the plains swing in its basins,
That have giraffes raising lazily their necks to smell the breeze,
Compare they well with your rising tentative on your feet.

The bright orange spread across the African skies at sunrise,
Rays of God’s mercies and blessings awaken the pores of earth,
That set the cuckoos coo praising Him for all that He has done,
Compare they well with your love songs in your mother’s lap.
